who we are

The Story Behind Pivot

Many people ask about the meaning behind our name. The word Pivot is intended to remind ourselves of our journey and the evolution of our mission. It is also intended to raise a question and, just possibly, a deeper conversation with those who choose to partner with us. My career began in the stunning landscapes of Colorado, where I practiced as a carpenter and general contractor for 14 years. I was deeply immersed in the world of construction, learning everything from project management to sustainable building practices. However, I felt a calling beyond the job site—an urge to make a deeper impact in the world.

This calling took myself and my wife to rural Nigeria, where we spent the next 3 years working with the local community to rebuild an old mission hospital. We worked alongside local craftsmen and healthcare professionals, addressing not just the physical structure but also the community’s broader needs. What started as a single project ultimately grew into a 10 year long humanitarian career serving in many countries around the globe. This experience taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, collaboration, service and God’s grace.

After returning to the U.S., we found ourselves in Boone, NC, where we made another pivot in our professional lives. Inspired by our humanitarian work and the insights gained from our personal experience, we wanted to start a new general contracting company that would embody our lessons learned. The aim was clear: to build, improve, and restore—not just structures, but the relationships and trust of those with whom we work. Thus, Pivot Construction was born.

The Pivot Construction Story: From Colorado to Boone, NC

Our story began in Colorado, where I worked for 14 years as a carpenter and general contractor. There, I learned every side of the building process—hands-on craftsmanship, project management, and the importance of building with integrity. But my wife and I felt called to do more than construct walls and roofs.

That calling took us to rural Nigeria, where we spent three years working with local craftsmen and healthcare professionals to rebuild a mission hospital. That single effort expanded into a decade of humanitarian work in communities around the world. Those years taught us about resilience, collaboration, and the power of service. They also shaped the foundation of who we are today.

When we returned to the U.S., Boone, North Carolina became home. Inspired by those lessons, we launched Pivot Construction with a clear mission: to build, restore, and improve—not only structures, but also trust. Every project is approached with honesty, clear communication, and craftsmanship that reflects our values.

Building Trust Through Integrity and Quality

At Pivot Construction, we understand how disheartening it can be to deal with unreliable builders. For many homeowners and business owners, broken promises, poor workmanship, and lack of communication have left them frustrated and hesitant to trust again. Too often, projects meant to bring joy or growth become sources of stress and disappointment.

Why Poor Building Experiences Hurt So Deeply

When a builder fails to deliver, it isn’t just about wasted time and money—it’s about broken trust. A home addition that drags on for months, a remodel that doesn’t match the vision, or a commercial space that isn’t functional can leave families and businesses feeling let down. These setbacks are more than inconveniences; they shake confidence and create lasting hesitation about future projects.

Why Pivot Construction Is the Solution You’ve Been Looking For

We’ve seen firsthand how much people long for builders they can trust. That’s why our commitment goes beyond construction—it’s about being a reliable partner from start to finish. Clients know that when they work with Pivot Construction, they will:

  • Receive honest communication every step of the way
  • Work with a team that treats their project as if it were our own
  • See quality craftsmanship in every detail
  • Build a relationship that lasts long after the project ends

When it comes to choosing a builder, integrity and reliability matter most—and that’s what we bring to every job.

The Result: Projects That Restore Confidence

By choosing Pivot Construction, you won’t just end up with a new home, remodel, addition, or commercial space—you’ll gain peace of mind. Our clients often tell us that at the end of a project, they feel not only satisfied with the results but grateful for the friendship and trust that were built along the way.

That’s the heart of Pivot Construction. Every project is more than just construction—it’s a commitment to your future, your family, or your business. And that’s a promise we take seriously.
